RAISE works to impact youth wellbeing and engagement through early intervention mentoring programs in schools and communities. Their purpose is to ensure young people feel heard, valued and supported.
RAISE Youth Mentoring: “Help us mentor 2,500 young people every year! For as little as two hours a week, you could help change the direction of a young person’s life. Listening, and actually hearing what a young person has to say can make all the difference.”
What makes this placement special?
Complete online training modules
Attend 2 x 2.5 hr group online mentor training via zoom
Attend Mentor orientation in the first week of Term 2
Begin weekly mentoring in late April until mid-October (school terms only).
At the end you will receive a 'Certificate of Appreciation' from the Raise Foundation which is a nice addition to your CV.
Longer Placement - the placement will run across school terms 2 & 3. This means you will start mentoring in the week beginning 26 April 2021, and complete 1 hour of mentoring and 1 hour of supervision each week for 20 weeks. The placement will conclude by Friday 18 October 2021. You will not be required to mentor during the school holidays.
Variety of locations within Sydney. You will be based at the same high school for the duration of your placement.

This placement is available to all students enrolling in PSYU3399 in Session 2 2021. This is an early commencing placement, beginning with training in February/March 2021, and requiring a regular commitment of 2 hours per week between April and September 2021.
PSYU3399 has a minimum placement requirement of 32 hours. This placement will be suited only to those students willing to exceed those hours (up to 60 hours). We encourage any students who are interested in working on a hands-on placement to consider applying for this placement.
