Description of Internship Opportunity:
Content producer
The Inside HR website will be the main focus for students as it will provide them with the most relevant experience and afford them the most practical benefits. Internship positions with the magazine will play to intern’s aspirations in getting some articles published online at a level that is appropriate for their skills which helps them get some “runs on the board” for future employment applications. For example:

- Producing news content: Researching, writing and sub-editing content will provide interns with a practical range of hands-on experience in a professional environment. Students will be able to put into practice key techniques to creating good stories, eg active voice and inverted pyramid story structures, as well as writing for online, eg SEO, keyword balancing, tagging etc. Articles can be published in the subscriber e-newsletter and in the magazine for distribution, with bylines.

- Transcribing feature length audio interviews: Transcribing is a daily reality for any journalist and this process will also help students in understanding niche subject matter. Transcribing is also about understanding the issues of a story, and students will be expected to identify potential story angles and repurpose select content from the interview into a shorter news story or two for publishing online.

- Research: Strong research skills are essential for any journalist, and interns will be able to assist with original market research for content in a number of ways. For example, a series of feature articles in the magazine on HR and recruitment in the ASX top 100 companies would involve in-depth research and communication with each company to ensure depth, accuracy and comprehensiveness of data – and students could assist in analysis and interpretation of results with a view to multiple news and feature articles.

- Use of and familiarisation with the Fairfax style guide: All students can be provided with a soft copy of the Fairfax style guide. This helps ensure consistency of style in all content produced and will give students a head start in terms of writing style when they do secure employment.

Any particular fields of study or skills:
Journalism/communications/content research & production + strong social and marketing skills to help promote content
